Should You Follow Your Passions

While there is a lot of blogs and literature out there that will tell you that it's a bad idea to follow your passions. It is my belief that you should.

Why? Because life is too short for you not to try the things that move you. You don't want to be 80 and say I WISH I would of tried that. That's should be enough reason to go after your dreams. 

Given I'm not telling you to be delusional that is why in your pursuit for your dreams you must be self aware. However, you never know how far you can get if you don't try or if you quit too early. 

So when is it time to quit? When do you know a certain profession is not for you, or that maybe it's time for a change? The answer to that is only you know. Only you know your capabilities and only you  can see your faults that's why self awareness is a huge part in knowing when to throw in the towel. 

Another, factor that plays a huge factor in deciding your passions once you are self aware of what you want to do and can do. Is belief, do you believe that you can make it in that field? Do you believe that you are meant to succeed in  your profession? 

This is huge because if you don't believe no amount of talent can get you where you want to go that's why belief is so major. There have been many cases in history where many talented people just didn't live up to their potential because of their lack of believe. Also vice versa there have been many people who weren't as talented who believed they could make it and worked their face off in order to make their dreams come true. 

Another reason you should follow your passions is that even if they don't work out they will lead you find what will truly work out for you in your life. As Thomas Edison said "I haven't failed, I just found 10,000 ways that didn't work out", with every thing that you try that doesn't work your life gets one step closer to something that does. 

So in this life it would be a travesty for you not go for what you want in order to find what will truly fulfill not only you but other people. I also want to make it clear that there is no perfect job in the world even when you do something you love for a living there will be frustrations,disappointments and uncertainty that's just life. 

Life is complicated enough don't make it more miserable than it has to be by doing something that crushes your soul that is just no way to live. Believe that you can, stay self aware and find what drives you what lets you get up in the morning even if you have to do things you don't want to do in order to make your dreams come true.
