Emotion is in Motion
Your emotional state is determined by the way you decide to use your body the movement in our body dictates what emotion we will feel. Think about it this way every emotion has an action and appearance to it. If you're depressed and feeling sad how does your body show that? It would look like a person with slumped shoulders, sad face, and dead looking eyes. So in order to believe me I want you to try and get in that state of feeling sad. Lower your shoulder and change your face to reflect the emotion of sadness what happened ? How did you feel? Did your feelings change? I bet they did, now do this straighten you shoulders up and clap your hands together and take a big breathe in how did you feel then? I bet you felt much more powerful now then when you first did the sad actions.
This small exercise is to show you that when you act as if something your body starts to feel that something and you end up feeling that way. This also works the reverse when you start feeling sad your body will reflect that emotion in your physiology. So in order to feel the way you want you have to start using your body in a way that will command empowering emotions which will make you feel good. This is pretty easy to do when you are feeling good but I can be quite challenging when you are feeling down or don't want to feel good.
This is why it's important to practice movements that will empower you the more you do them. The more your body will start to link those movements to the emotions you want. This will in turn help you to be able to command those movements when you are not in resourceful states.
One of the best ways you can practice is by making yourself smile everyday the way you do this is by going to a mirror and smiling for 1 minute and do it 5 times a day. On top of that make yourself laugh for no reason 3 times a day. This will help you develop the habit of being in a positive state with your motion.
Ultimately actions are the drivers of our emotion mixed with what we focus(more on focus coming soon) on that drives our everyday lives. So if you want to take control of you life and be proactive instead of letting your environment shape the way you feel. Taking the actions that will empower you to live a happier life is the way to go.
